Its censorship like this, that makes me want to go and burn books.

Finally got Connie running Wordpres. My main problem was that I was following this MacZealot’s Wordpress Tutorial and it does a great job but I kept ending up with the same error:

“Error establishing a database connection”

I didnt notice that the tutorial was written almost a year ago, and the MySql they were using was the version that was available at the time. While I use the latest version. So after RTFM after RTFM and trying out different MySql queries I figured out I just need to upgrade PHP.

Seems that my MySql was the new version 4.1.10a-max, and my PHP was the standard with OSX 10.3 and knew how to communicate to MySql 4.0.20. So had to upgrade my PHP and I wasn’t about to try many random ones, like the one from the Apple site, but those wouldn’t do and glad I didn’t install it blindly like I usually do and read the README. I had to install Mark Liyange’s PHP Package for OSX 10.3 it was a quick and painless upgrade and my Wordpress finally worked!

I put Wordpress on my laptop so I can do some themes and hacks to my blog and other stuff with out screwing this main site. This is so when I move to 2by4.org I wont be carrying the bloat thats in my current install.

Saudi Channel 2 has some live art show going on in Saudi, and it is SO bad I mean this thing sucks. Its all abstract art and its just crap and the announcer is making things up to explain how amazing it is when it so bad. I mean REALLY. The colors are ugly, the the lines are horrid, its total crap. Its like someone just tossed pain and just the guy is totally making things up. “this is the like the work of Kandinsky [sp]”. I have no idea who Kandinsky is but I am sure if he is dead he is turning in his grave right now.
I shouldn’t be pissed, I mean this is Saudi and its good they have some sort of art show to educated the people. The sad part all the paintings are just abstract cause they can’t have any impressionism or anything cause that could be considered a fatwa. Yet dont lie to the people with the art, at least get something even if it is just one painting it will be more beneficial for the people than showing them bad art.

Sony isn’t allowed to sell Play Station anymore and must pay $90million! due to patent infringement.

Guaranteed it is a It is a stupid patent and Sony doesn’t need this crap, how you can patent “technology that creates vibrations and other sensations meant to create more realistic game play”. That really makes no sense, its like the other crappy patents that have been going around like theAmazon one click.

They are appealing it and since its on appeal they can still sell PlayStaions. But I dont know if they will win cause Immerision already won this case against Microsoft. So its looks questionable if they will win and I hope they do. Cause Immersion is squeezing companies like BMW, Logitech, Mad Catz Interactive, Apple Computers.

Yet one thing arises, I dont see any lawsuit or payment with Nintendo? Maybe Nintendo has something better..

DS RULES

So yesterday while Mark was taking his taking his picture I was getting money from the CBK ATM, and noticed all those receipts people toss. Usually I just grumble and say damn idiots, not cause they litter, but the information these things hold.

So I picked a few up and was shocked on what I noticed. People dont have money!

I picked up 7 and only 2 of them actually were able to complete their with drawl, the rest had no money in their account for the amount they were trying to with drawl.

Here are the 5 who didn’t have money:

Wtf? You dont even have a dinar and you want 100kd?

With drawl Amount: 300
Available Balance: 74.600
At least this person had some cash in their account.

With drawl Amount: 260
Available Balance: Amount Exceeded
Guess they were trying to take from their Visa credit card.

With drawl Amount: 20
Available Balance: Amount Exceeded
Same person as the 260, I am sure they were hoping for some money to pay for the Starbucks bill.

This person must have had no money on their Mastercard and they weren’t even going to let them know how much they can with drawl.

Some people have no control over their finances! Its like they some how expect the bank to have free money or something.

So I was with Mark & Nat earlier in the night in Kuwait City just wandering around. It felt strange cause I dont think I have ever been down their on a Sunday. It was always something you avoided cause of the traffic and the influx of expat workers there. Also due to the fact that most of them are Indians it gets known as Mini Bombay.
It felt I didn’t belong there, I didn’t see any other Kuwaitis or Arabs for that matter there. Of course they were some Arabs but they either were working there or had some hole in the wall sheesha place so they are always there and dont count.

And like when ever I have walks down in Kuwait City I feel ashamed for they are some amazing places there, you feel like there is a city thats waiting to just explode with life and culture. Yet those locations and centers are either mismanaged, left for destruction or just forgotten. They are some hidden treasure like pieces of land with rundown apartment buildings, and even open squares and parks that asking to be cleaned up for people to just sit and relax in.

I really hope the Baladia’s project to rejuvenate the city isn’t just so they can build high rise office buildings and parking lots. For if they need to put some apartment buildings there. People will live in them and you will see a rebirth in Kuwait City. Things will be right next to each other so you dont need to take your car from parking spot to parking, You will be able to walk down from your apartment and go to work, shop, eat and have a good time. We won’t have to think about our commute or how bad traffic will be cause you will be just there.

I myself love the feeling of just knowing its walking distance where I want to go. Its a great freedom and one of the reason I love visiting bustling cities and really hope Kuwait City becomes one.

I wonder about Purg, especially now when he sends me this message on MSN.

Purgatory: i need to shower to feel clean and post

This just raises more questions, like why he needs to clean himself before he posts, and what he doing or thinking before that made him feel dirty at 2pm CET which equals 3Pm Kuwait Time.

Cause Europe did that day time savings thing so just 1 hour separates us.

Since more and more people are finally joining the Mac life style I think its time we form a Mac community in Kuwait. A place where we can benifit from each others’ experiences’ and knowledge on Macs and the Apple brand.

The group should be open to Mac owners as well people interested in making the switch.

Well this guy took some of the songs that were rumored to have certain things said when played backwards. He has Stairway to Heaven, Pokemon Rap and Hit Me Baby One More Time to name a few. Some are pretty cool to listen to cause they do say something the rest I think are asking if I want to up size my Hardeez meal.
