Every filmmaker, from major studios to independent producers, experiences some element of risk while filming in foreign countries. That is why, each year, Aon/Albert G Ruben, the largest entertainment insurance broker in the world, comprehensively measures and maps the risks filmmakers face across the globe.

The 2005 Risks in Global Filmmaking Map measures crime, corruption, kidnap and ransom, disease and medical care risks, and references terrorism and political risks.

Bah Tuessday

I would like to state for the record that Tuesdays are my worst days, in Kuwait, US, vacation work etc. I just hate Tuesdays. There is always something that just makes it bad.

I just checked my battery for my Powerbook on the Apple Battery Recall and its affected! And I can’t find my APP paper so I can call them and have them send it direct to Kuwait instead of Aramex in NY, then pay for shipping to Apple from Kuwait.

Bah will figure it all out in the morning or Wed.

Look Ma No Batteries!

This is the real beginning of the wireless freedom they have promised us. Finally we have a wireless, battery-less mouse!

Yes you read that right it doesn’t need batteries and is wireless! How it works is via the mouse pad and Electro Magnetic Induction, which basically means that the mouse pad sends power to the mouse.

I dont get how no big hoop-la was done over this when it came out. This thing is revolutionary.

Mahmood on BBC

General, Kuwait — nibaq on May 30, 2005 at 3:32:34

Mahmood has been interviewed by the BBC - Arabic edition over the forced registration of websites occurring in Bahrain. It will be broadcast every hour on BBC news. You can listen to it in Kuwait on 90.1 FM (Thanks Forza) or at their website

This is an important issue for the Gulf and Arab countries for Mahmood is standing up for the rights to speak freely and openly, as well as having the government’s understand that people criticism isn’t a traitorous act but part of the social contract that is between the citizen and the state. For that criticism is a request for change and to get rid of the current problems that are holding back development and growth. The old method of “hear no evil, see no evil, and speak no evil” will just make us deaf, dumb, and blind to our problems and have them just get worse and worse until we are forgotten and left behind by the rest of the world.

So please inform everyone you know about this interview. They can listen to in in their car, or at home. This is something that everyone should hear and take part in for it concern all of us and not just Bahrain.

ITs 2:30 and still can’t sleep, dont know why, just not tired. Not sure if it is the coffee I had earlier, or the cheese steak at Great Steak, or the nap earlier this afternoon. I am just not tired…

Will get some laban in me, that should help, maybe some TV to dull the mind…

Smile for the Kitty!

Its been a while since we had any Hello Kitty goodness here in a while, was thinking I may have to go into my own stash to share.

Yet Jackie has shown me this: Hello Kitty Camera, and it is not bad at all, simple 3 megapixel cam, with built 16mb memory and even handles SD memory cards and looks pretty thin, and oh it can do video with sound.

Can You Repeat That?

General, Kuwait — nibaq on May 29, 2005 at 19:00:02

Ever go to a building or basement or even out of Kuwait city limits and lose your phone signal? Well I have in many places, going to Salmi, my grandmothers basement and even some offices. No one gets anything signal. It is a good thing at times to just get away from it. But when work is involved and need to make that quick emergency phone call you are screwed, and end up doing the dance trying to find the strong point to make that call.

Well finally we have a solution : CellAntenna Cell Antenna. These guys buildnig antennas and repeaters for your home, office, car and other places you would use a cell phone and need the boosted signal. They even have ones for the WiFi!
