This is something that has gotten to me with my friends and just other people. It really has been annoying me since way back during CDs when a friend would be jumping from song to do song, ed not even letting it complete and is already in a track 3 or 4 down.

I just couldn’t stand it. It really drove me up the wall, physician especially if I really enjoyed the song, and even when I enjoyed the whole album and would listen to it all the way thru and have it repeat. Now with DMP and such it is even more so. They are jumping from song to song from genre to genre without some sort of pattern or sense.

It seems they are looking for that part they enjoy and once they reach it move to the next one.

Granted that sometimes these occur in playlists or mixes but those are more controlled and accepted. There is a theme or feeling that comes with it and you want to enjoy the whole feel, and atleast you let the song play fully.

You see I am a albums person I love getting it and listening to it all the way thru and enjoying each song for its worth and get with the album. Yet lately it is even harder and harder to find an album that you can listen all the way thru without throwing it out and just keeping the one and if you are lucky two songs that you enjoy.

So are you an albums or a songs type person?

  1. I’m definitely a songs person. I find it somewhat annoying to know what song is going to come on next.

There are exceptions to this, however. Tool I generally listen to albums without going random.

I also almost never buy albums anymore. Instead I’m buying tracks off ITMS, or ripping cds that friends bought. I can’t even remember the last cd I bought.

  2. definitly a song , jump from one to the next kind of person, listening to the same sound for a long times bores me, thats why i rarely if ever listen to a whole album

  3. Songs. Songs. Songs. I have ADD when it comes to music & there are only 2 albums that I can stand listening to all the way through. I love mixing up all genres on my cds because that way they’re not predictable or boring.

  4. Generally I’m an album person, but if I don’t know a lot of the songs on a album, say if I buy it for the one or two tracks I know, then I sometimes lose patience, at least at first. Lately though, I tend to only listen to the first part of an album, because I’ll be doing other things. If it’s on my iPod I tend to come back to it later if I’m still in the mood for it, but the CDs in the player don’t often make it all the way through.

But like you, I really like the flow of an album. If it’s a well-thought out album anyway.

  5. depends…. when it comes to house music and especially tiesto, i go for albums cos the whole album has to be good to sell since all songs are mixed in. But when it comes to RnB, hip hop, chill out, dance… i go for singles cos usually u got one hit song and the rest suck
