Lately there been lots of speculation on the change from Thursday/Friday to a Friday/Saturday weekend. Well I just received an email with a letter from the Kuwait Civil Service Commission declaring that starting Sept 1st 2007 that Saturday will replace Thursday as an official day of rest.

  1. Is that mandatory for all private sector companies as well? I hope they make it mandatory across the board because if not then you know there will be some stubborn companies who refuse to change and we’ll continue having different weekends depending on where one works. It’s really going to be strange to no longer have Wednesday nights! :)

  4. I am guessing we are in for some interesting times. The legislature said very definitively in July that this wasn’t going to happen. I don’t have a dog in this fight - I’m just interested in how it is going to work out.
