Seems that Apple has finally made a stand on those iPhone unlocks and enjoy them while they last. Apple plans to make them bricks with future updates and not under any warranty.

Apple has discovered that many of the unauthorized iPhone unlocking programs available on the Internet cause irreparable damage to the iPhones software, which will likely result in the modified iPhone becoming permanently inoperable when a future Apple-supplied iPhone software update is installed.
