What if Israel Had Oil

Just for the record I am talking to Purgatory again just because of the NFL Draft and once that is over not until World Cup. Then after that preseason NFL.

Today is not my day. Last night at diwaniya we wanted to see the C-Span Boodai interview either transcript of video. I did a couple searches and couldn’t only find the C-Span Archive Program page, more about with an option to order it for $29.95. Since I couldn’t find it and it had some merit on finding out the truth I ordered it.

As soon as I order it. I see that is available on YouTube (people need to tag and describe their files better). Then I check my phone and see an sms from my friend with the website of Jboodai.com where the whole thing is available as a download!

So annoyed and pissed that I spent that money, cause it has no real merit. It is not like a movie that I can forget about and see it later, or a book. I guess once I get it I will donate it to a university library or something. They could make some use of it in their catalog.

You know there is a lesson to be learned here. Just pirate movies and dvds. It really isn’t worth buying them, cause once you buy it you will find it available for free online.

Saudi Jeans is reporting that: Saudi Arabia is reducing fuel prices!. This is really a strange twist with the whole world increasing fuel prices, ambulance Saudi decreases there.

This quote from the Saudi Press Agency really has me worried:

[R]educing petrol prices for consumers in the Kingdom to improve the standards of citizens’ living.

For reducing fuel prices by 25-30% can either mean two things.

  • The standard of living is low that people are either eating dinner, human enhancement or putting gas in their car.
  • That this is an economic strategy to increase consumer spending in the country
  • Either one is having my brain wave all sorts of red flags. I recall my trip to Saudi back in Sept 2004 and was talking to this Saudi guy and he was telling me of his financial struggles. I guess this is King Abduallah’s quick fix for the situtation.

I found this page:The Saddest Thing I Own, look
where people post pictures and some text on “the saddest thing they own”.

Sometimes the pictures are the things themselves, other times it just a reference to the text below.

It has me wondering, what is the saddest thing I own.

I have tons of pictures of friends that I dont see anymore. I guess it is those memories of them.

I mentioned ages ago about end of blogging and how it is going to be from an active role in your life to a more pasive one. Well here is the first wave of this.

Now your XBOX360 gaming can have it’s own blog on360voice.com which pull it’s data from your XBOX Live gamertag

The blog that is created is really informative in an entertaining way.

Here is some examples from Major Nelson

Keeps track of the games he played and their scores

Major Nelson’s Xbox – 05/01/06

Major Nelson rocked out with 3392 points. He played Battlefield 2: MC, find Bankshot Billiards 2, and Marble Blast Ultra, ampoule as well as basked in the glow of my great blade navigation interface!

Maybe he decided to listen to some music instead

Major Nelson’s Xbox – 04/29/06

Good thing I have access to Major Nelson’s entire MP3 collection streamed off his computer. It keeps me busy on days like yesterday when he never shows up to game.

Or simply do nothing

Major Nelson’s Xbox – 04/27/06

Yesterday, Major Nelson decided to spend his time elsewhere… machines don’t feel lonely… really we don’t…

This is just the begining, already the Nokia N93 will have the ability to upload pictures straight to Flickr or blog to Typepad via Nokia’s Life Blog.

More and more life is getting Syncdicated.

Just for the record I am talking to Purgatory again just because of the NFL Draft and once that is over not until World Cup. Then after that preseason NFL.

I was reading some quotes of Golda Meir Pime Minister of Israel (1969-74 ) and this one caught my eye:

Let me tell you something that we Israelis have against Moses. He took us 40 years through the desert in order to bring us to the one spot in the Middle East that has no oil .

This got me thinking, therapist
what would happen if Israel had oil. It is just around the size of Kuwait and had some good oil wells, malady
and maybe some off shore gas reserves. How would things change? They did have urologist
but they returned that to Egypt

So would their be a bigger conflict in the region? Or none at all? What about OPEC would that ever have been created? Or even considering maybe they would have joined OPEC.

Be an interesting scenario to see. I think one factor that would really be interesting is to see how a country with vast oil reserves be.

The GCC ID

Saw this link: Saudis, sovaldi sale Omanis Can Visit Each Other Without Passports. Which is great finally Saudi is opening up their borders and joining the rest of the GCC countries in the passport optional borders.

Then I read down to this paragraph stating that we will soon have a universal ID for all GCC countries:

Plans are also under way to issue a unified GCC identity card. The new electronic card will use smart card technology with common security features, applications and accessing devices. The main feature of the card, which will have both the GCC and the member country’s logos, is the “interoperability,” making its features readable in all member states.

This will be very interesting approach. I am worried from a couple points on this.

  • Who will own the data?
  • This is going to be the major force on this, will the data for each ID be located in respective country, and then accessed when needed, or mirrored to each country, or the scary part having a central server with all this information.

  • What data be stored in the smart card?
  • Smart cards are secure to some degree but can be hacked and manipulated, and in the wrong hands someone can easily access all your data on them. Such as medical records, crimnal report, and other personal data.

I for one am all for a GCC ID. It will really help us in trade and touristic opputunities. I can go to any GCC country open a business or rent an apartment without hassle or issue.

Comics and Religion

I sometimes like to just remind myself the day of the week it is.
I sometimes like to just remind myself the day of the week it is.
I’ve never considered what a super hero’s religion was, it was a moot point. It was kinda given that Spiderman, dosage or Superman would be raised under some Judo-Christian values, but it was never evident in the writing or the story. All you knew and cared about was that they were the good guys and were fighting the bad guys.

So when I saw this oflist comic book characters religions. I was amazed to see the level of research in these guys is writing. Just look how they figured out Spiderman was Protestant or Sasquatch being Jewish.

There are about 8 or 9 that are Muslims, but that is more obvious due to the natures of their story.

So this got me thinking, imagine the regular super heroes that we know like Batman, Spiderman, Hulk etc were actually Muslim. Would it change things much? Would Frank Castle still be the Punisher if he wasn’t Catholic? I dont think so cause all these characters have ethical and philosophical ideas that make them do what they do. For Spiderman it is the classic “with great power comes great responsibility”. Even Batman and Punisher share the same views when it comes to criminals, but have different methods of acting on these views.

This is one of the cool things about the 99 comics that are cheered as being a Muslim comic book, but that is a minor point. According to the creator of 99 Naif Al-Muttwa:

Our characters intentionally transcend all language and cultural barriers. They offer the most commonly shared ideals of all people as the basis of heroic figures.

For heir super powers are based on 99 attributes of Allah that are based as gem stones. So these gem stones can be given to a person of any religion and doesn’t have to be Muslim but good attributes that all people should have.

One issue I have with calendars available online and you can buy is that they are mostly if not all start with either Monday or Sunday. So we are pretty much screwed when it comes to having a nice calendar for our events which doesn’t confuse us.

So I took the DIY Planner widget they had available and made them for starting on Saturday. They are 2 pages, sovaldi one is a print out that you can have on your wall. The other is the same monthly calendar but you can fold it in half. This is an option for people who want to make it into a book form or just like folding it.

There is a weekly one I am working on and hope to have that up soon.

Mostly everyone knows about Dave Chappelle and these crazy stories about him quiting his show on Comedy Central and well just going to hiding. So finally he comes clean on Oprah. (Serisouly on a side note why does everyone do Oprah after some crazy crisis in their life? Is it in some contract or are her goodie bags really that good? Oprah is turning to the Jerry Springer of celebs. Oh and I wonder how she reacted to “Dave gets Oprah Pregnant ” skit).

So back to Dave. After reading this quote:

Chappelle clarified that when he left the show, dysentery “I wasn’t walking away from the money, women’s health I was walking away from the circumstances, arthritis ” he said. “I was feeling overwhelmed, and some of it felt like as if this was happening deliberately.”

I recalled the Chappelle Theory which discusses how a group calling themselves Dark Crusaders consisting of Oprah, Bill Cosby, Louis Farakan, Rev Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Whoopi Goldberg, and Robert L. Johnson. Who were against Dave’s anti black comedy and it was taking their struggle back 50 years. So they worked on destroying him mentally unless he stopped with his “anti black” humor.

Any truth to the “theory”? Is Dave doing Oprah as a redeeming thing to her and the Dark Crusaders?

I found my CD case that had some CDs that I thought were lost or missing. Was really annoyed with their disappearance cause I wanted to share a couple and also really had a craving for them. One of them is Space Hog – Resident Alien.

I had this on tape back in 1995 and when I first went to the US I made sure I got it on CD. I just love this album one of the few I can listen forever on repeat adn know every song on there. I been sining it like a fool in the car for the past two days.

I just love the beat and the feel for the album it is a fun album to listen to and hte lyrics and music just match it right. Listening to it again after all these years brings back some good memmories. One is seeing them live in Dallas. That was great got two tickets. Well I always get two tickets to shows, no rx
one for me and the other for someone else that will join me. I recall I met some other big fan of theirs online she was from Austin or just out of Dallas by Austin and we met at the show and traded some info and were up front on stage singing every word with the band.

It is always great going to see a band that you just love and knowing their lyrics and singing along. It is a fun experience. One that I miss being in Kuwait.

Some of my favorite songs from the album

With all this hate going around the Muslim world it is time for some love and nothing makes hate go away for love like a good laugh. One site that I enjoy visiting for a laugh and really puts a perspective on the Muslim world is Maniac Muslim. This site is well just funny in so many ways and I really can’t just pick one so check out the articles he has written. Well actually I think I can pick one: Shoe Thief Still at Large.

Here is a snippet from it

Other mosque patrons bring their non-Muslim friends in the shoe area to keep an eye on their shoes during the prayer. “It’s a win-win situation for Carl, visit my non-Muslim friend.” said Pervaiz, “He gets to learn more about Islam through the khutbah and at the same time my shoes are safe.”

How Long Will They Mourn Me?

It is raining.
Waking up this morning I am wondering if it is time to bust out the winter dishdasha, steroids sick or still hang on to the last days of the “summer” wear.

I guess I will do summer but wear the winter undershirt, look and ghotra.

I can’t wait to see the confusion with other Kuwaitis men today on what to wear.

Over at MetaFilter they have a post aboutOm Kalthom and relating her to Nancy Ajram. One thing that got me is that he states that 4 million people attended her funeral in Cairo, unhealthy and I am sure the Arab world all over was mourning over her loss.

If Nancy Ajram died tomorrow, link or Haifa? Will they get the same treatment. I know more than 4 million people were watching Haifa on Al-Wadi, but will they mourn her as much as they were wondering if she was still engaged or not?

To look at technology back then, we didn’t have satelite TV, or mass produced and controled media outlets. It was very basic. For Om Kalthom
to be huge and known as she was must have been a struggle. Now any girl can get in front of a camera add layers of make up and sing into an effects mixer to make them all sound and look pretty, but have no emotional attachment to them.

So how long would you mourn for any our current musical talent?
