Remember my post on drive thru coffee shops? Well guess what…. Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf (CBTL), order next to Al Fanar Mall in Salmiya has a “car hop” service now. You stop, anorexia a guy comes up and asks for your order, “walkie talkies” the staff inside and your order would be ready in no time. So you don’t have to find a car park or get out of your car for your take away orders!

Also, CBTL has happy hour from 3 to 7pm everyday. Buy 2 coffee based Ice blended drinks and get one free. Also, CBTL has coupons for their regular customers for 10% discount off your drinks, or 15% off breakfast or lunch, PLUS CBTL has a pink card which gets punched with each drink you buy… the 13th drink is for free.

I really like CBTL, their coffee is real good (I rank them #2 on caramel latte after Casper), they are the people who created the ice blend, they have a really friendly staff, and excellent service. I just hate their smoking section!!

Now you Windows boys can say “oh well thats cause Windows is more popular than Mac so more people make virus and stuff for it

NO! Its because Windows is based on some VERY UGLY LEGACY CODE! Thats why Mac OSX is not Mac OS9. Apple said you know this Os9 is crap lets get rid of it and start something new and fresh and clean with out all that crap that we been carrying for the past 15 years cause its been causing us problem and told their sales people “Screw you! Who wants to run a program thats is over 5 years old and only 2 companies in the world actually care to use it!”

Windows NT was supposed to get rid of the legacy of Window 3.x and start clean, this Windows NT was originally multi processor! You could install it on PowerPC, dosage Alpha, page and Intel chips sets! If you have one of those old CDs you will notice directories for each of those processors.

Longhorn is already dead they can’t even catch up with what OSX has to offer and if they tried they would need another couple years just to reach it, then they would need another couple years just to fix the bugs.

The best news I read today is that Alpha processors may be making a comeback and according to the article even though it hasn’t had any development in over 5 years is can still kick anything out there now in 64bit, and some guys in Spain have this amazing system called tarantula to handle stuff. I’ll find that article tomorrow, its in the history at my work computer.

On a happy note, another person in the diwaniya today got a Mac, I think that brings the count to 4 now, (including me) and this guy is very influential so later this year I am sure we can get a few more to switch.

I found a new way to get the news now and it is called 10by10. The process is quiet simple the website goes and collects information from news sites and collects the words, pharm then does some automagic on the words and picks the top 100 words along with the pictures associated from those articles.

Thus giving you a 10by10 grid of a 100 pictures and their associated word. The more time the picture is repeated the more important it is. Like one that caught my eye is picture of Blair and seems he is going to Saudi for their support in the G8 summit.

Push the Button

K has become my 2500 comment post
K has become my 2500 comment post
we have all done it, anesthetist waiting at the cross walk and just pushed the walk button repeatedly and someone will tell you that pushing it more than once won’t make a difference but you do it anyway cause it makes you feel better. Well guess what, pushing the button in a systematic pattern will actually make it go faster!

A Kansas City hacker group called Cross Anytime have released a 3685 cheat list of codes that you can press that will allow you to cross the street faster. These guys did it by social engineering, reverse engineering, and good ol brute force!

Sadly their site Cross Walk Button Hacks has been taken down by the FBI stating it violates the DMCA cause it cane be used for terrorist acts.

I dont know what they are thinking that FBI, dont they know that arabs don’t walk we drive everywhere, just look at the traffic in our cities! What terrorist is going to sit in from of a pedesterian cross walk pushing buttons when he can just park his car in the middle of the street Kuwaiti style honking for the bagala (convient store) guy to come out and give him cigarettes!

Anyway hope they relase those hacks soon, they would be really cool to have.

Finally done with my ISO:9001:2000 Lead Auditor class. It was a great time and very educational, treatment
really taught me a lot about the ISO philosophy and the reasons behind it.I always thought it was about paperwork and other random documentation but thats just a small part of it. The best way I can explain it is that is about getting quality from your work to better serve your customers. I know that sounds generic and silly but when you get in to it, plague
it does work.

You create an environment with ISO that allows your customers, works and management communicate better and in practice create a better product that meets customer satisfaction.

This is one of the most beutiful hack/designs I have ever seen. It bring together the outside world. The system is having a bunch of opitcal fiber wires streaming light from the outside to a table, buy
thus providing natural sunlight.

Having it on a table is a simple idea, pharmacy
but this could replace skylights. Imagine your bedroom ceiling with these things, you could wake up to natural sunlight, and same can go with living spaces. Yuo could easily create this natural ambient light. I am really fascinated with the possibilities of this and just thinking of house designs that could implement it. Oh wow it would be great in basements and underground areas aswell.

DAVID BOWIE – A REALITY TOUR!! ON ORBIT NOW!!!

Man bring back memories of New York and seeing him live at Roseland and then at the Tibet concert at Carnegie Hall.

Wow this crowd rocks they are singing Rebel Rebel with him and just doing it loud.

But nothing beats seeing him in Roseland and he does the whole Low album LIVE! One of my dreams in life when I went to the US was to see him live and play Always Crashing in the Same Car, youth health
and meeting up with random Bowie fans.

Good time, good times.

I am sure everyone is familiar with MC Escher’s paintings that you can stare for hours trying to imagine what was in his mind when he would come up with all those patterns reoccurring and changing

Well wonder no more! I found this great site that teaches you how to make them, salve and once you understand the basics of it. It becomes really simple.

Reading more in to this site is just making me appreciate Escher art so much more. The site gives examples how to do it with a program. Escher just did it using his hands and eyes and that brain of his and creating a perfect each time.

Being a comic fan is a hard job. You are not just reading one story, gerontologist but over a dozen at one time, pancreatitis and have to keep track of all these characters backstory and history, cause they always have these wierd bits of information like (see issue #4) and either you have to remeber what happened, or actually go out and get issue #4.

The worst is when you have cross overs or those large story lines that jump between a couple to a dozen comics and have to get every single one to understand the plot lines, but thats only with main stream comic companies luckily. The indie guys are a lot simpler when it comes to this.

I haven’t gotten comics in ages, but still almost remeber every issue and story line. Back when I was in the US it was like clock work, every Wed. was new comic day, and would head to my favorite store and get my weekly fix.

In a show of pure fandom this guy actually wen and created a chronology of the DC universe. No easy task I might add. DC once in order to deal with all these plots and paradoxes and parrel universes, created a totally new universe just to make sense of everything (See Crisis on Infinte Earths).

I still dream of going back to the US and visit my local comic store and just pick my weekly stash, head to lunch and just read them.

So I get home and tell my mom “today sucked”, she replied oh its the “summer solstice”. Which just explained everything!

No wonder the day been moving like it is.

Anyway happy solstice!

I really liked reading this article in which Saddam’s prison guards discussed Saddam’s character. Apparently, dosage he is a clean freak, who is really friendly and talkative. He loves raisin brans and crunch for breakfast…but not fruit loops. He likes eating chicken and fish for dinner but not beef. He likes doing his own laundry and cleans his food tray, and utensil using baby wipers. He also has a few things to say about some of the US presidents.

For some reason, I have always been intrigued by Saddam’s character. I always wanted to know what sort of personality he has. I remember when they found his dvd collection and I realized we had common taste in movies. His mistress also claimed that he sings “strangers in the night” while he showers and that he loves to watch movies whilst wearing boxers and socks and sipping scotch…. could it be that I am the next tyrannt??? :O

On another note, I read the other day that Queen Elizabeth carries her own ipod now. Apparently she has songs such as Abba’s Dancing Queen on it. I thought that piece of news was funny and cute…and the thought of her dancing and singing to dancing queen is even funnier.

Another thing I wanted to say…. it’s time we cut down on ads in Kuwait!! I mean come on… there is this traffic light on Baghdad street where I simple cannot see the light anymore unless I am right next to it. The reason being is that there is a mupi, a lamp post ad, and a street sign blocking the freaking traffic light!!!

(Thanks nibaq for allowing me to post on your blog … you were right, I can’t stop and I have been fighting the urge to blog recently… I keep finding “blog worthy” topics!)

Well it seems in Disney Land (California) there is this secret club that costs thousands to enter and its a long ass waiting list. It is Club 33, here
located in the New Orleans part of the park and the only place that serves alcohol in the park. Sounds really pimpy just to have access to it and supposedly it is a really up scale place with expensive wines and other booze.

So it got me thinking, herpes
is there on like this in Entertainment City? Maybe in the Aladdin ride, or maybe that one building that is near the cars, and just before the log ride (best ride ever). It could be like the only official bar in Kuwait and secretly hidden in Entertainment City. Serisouly no one would even imagine it would even be there. I think this demands and venture to Entertainment City soon to find this place!

Here is an intresting and some what pointless product:
Sprayonmud

As the name states its mud in a spray can. It was so made for those weekend warriors who own SUVs but never take them out and really take them to the limit just use them for home->office->food etc.

But then something caught my eye:

Sprayonmud is NOT to be used to obscure number-plates or the lights on your vehicle.

What a great idea! This beats those invisible sprays to cover your plates, medical so when the radar cameras go off it just captures a white area around it.

For this is actual mud, you can just smear it on your car, and drive as fast as you want and know the camera won’t catch your number. It will hide the numbers and when the cops see it will just think you been taking your car to some dirty places.

Watches and people and why did I stop wearing one for a year, no rx then buy the regular swatch.

Been thinking of this thing I am calling it “close to zero” its about relationships, website but not in terms of people and such, oncology but information, time and locations. The concept is that these social networks that are going around Friendster, Orkut, etc are the wrong thing. Cause in this day and age who you know doesn’t matter. Does it matter than I am 4 degrees away from Bill Clinton? Is there any real benefit from that? I can’t just call him and say “hey I am a friend of so and so, who is a friend of ….” you get the picture.

With information is is different, its more dynamic and about information, and with information you can make educated decisions, which is the basis of capitalism. You see the level of information people will get will be equal and it will lead to perfect competition.

So some examples.

Ok… So lets say a fire started in your house and you were right there. Who is the first person you call? The fire station, then I am sure close family/friends. The fire station and your family and friends are within what I call “0 minute” of the event. That means within a minute of it happening they were informed. Then we have “0 hour” this could be when you neighbors coming home see the smoke and fire within an hour of it happening. Then a reporter comes from the news paper and writes about what happened and takes picture of it and its in the next days paper and people read it. Then they are in “0 day” since it occurred within a day of it happening. Then someone reads the article online a week later, they are “0-week” within a week of it happening.

So consider your relationships with your information sources, parents, friends, the news etc. and think about where are you in the relationship. Are you part of the event happening, or are you a minute, week or month. When does information reach you?

DoubleTrust : Two is better than one

I am a Nintendo boy, approved always have and always will be. Nintedo brings me simple joy in life in doing what it does best, this make fun entertaining games. This simple strategy has worked for them for the past 20+ years and still doing it.

Here is an article on the future of Nintendo what this guy thinks their market strategy is and what they plan to do with Goliath’s like Sony and Microsoft.

Nintendo Versus Everyone: The Business of Business

My thoughts on it is that Sony and MS are going to lose on the hardware, viagra 40mg but rake in the money with their online subscription service. The only news from that on the Nintendo front is that they plan to have it all in one room, or even between rooms. So that when you beat your opponent instead of making fun of him via chat, you can actually get in his face and do that I kicked your ass dance.
