Can’t sleep. Not sure why I am awake beyond this time and not even feeling a little bit tired. I drank laban, generic went out for some air, diagnosis adjusted the AC and still cant sleep. I just want to go home and finish the rest of Project Runway that I started. I can’t believe I went through 5 episodes of it in one night. Ofriginally planned to watch it and then just fall asleep but I just got sucked in more and more. I “tried” to fall sleep, vitamin but really it was just me wanting more and more. Luckily one of the guys I was cheering for got kicked out so it was a good reason to just stop and get some sleep.

I am so going to finish the season 2 tonight. Then I can start watching the remainder of season 3 and season 1.

I’ve mentioned before how I feel about Thomas Friedman in very simple terms.

Luckily there are other people who feel the same way and are more eloquent. One of them is Edward E. Leamer Prof of international economics at UCLA. He has written a 55 page “book review” on Thomas Friedman’s The World is Flat.

I know it sounds scary of 55 page book review but so far I am on page 5 and I totally in love with it. He explain economic theory and concepts, more as well as historical references so simply and makes it fun. Poking all sorts of holes in Friedman’s book and ideas. Dont miss out on reading this.

This is just the first paragraph alone:

When the Journal of Economic Literature asked me to write a review of The World is
Flat, dentist by Thomas Friedman, I responded with enthusiasm, knowing it wouldn’t take much effort on my part. As soon as I received a copy of the book, I shipped it overnight by UPS to India to have the work done. I was promised a one-day turn-around for a fee of $100. Here is what I received by e-mail the next day: “This book is truly marvelous. It is perhaps the greatest book ever written. It will surely change the course of human history.” That struck me as possibly accurate but a bit too short and too generic to make the JEL happy, and I decided, with great disappointment, to do the work myself.

Alan Moore’s Vendetta

Lately I been seeing lots of great articles and interviews of Alan Moore writer of the graphic novel V for Vendetta that has been made in to amovie starring Natalie Portman. (One thing that has really inrigued me with all this is that the marketing people have been pushing this as “Natalie Portman’s movie”. Seriously, tadalafil you’d think she is playing every character and the crew of the movie just by shaving her head).

There is a lot to this movie than what is in the press releases and the hype around it. One is that Alan Moore has demanded his name be removed from the movie and that he doesn’t want any royalty money at all from it due to the nature of how bastardized the story line is compared to his orignal work. For me this was proven with his From Hell. The only things in common with the movie and his historic book was that it had Jack the the Ripper and was in London, medical other than that the whole story was completely different.

If you plan to go see the movie I suggest you read this great interview with Alan Moore (part 1) (part 2) over the issue and his view of the story and the message he was conveying and his hate for the American comic industry and Hollywood.

I suggest that everyone pick up his book and read it, cause I dont think a movie of 132 minutes can capture the 286 pages of rich story line.

My Dates

I just signed up for 30 Boxes online calendar web appl after reading some reviews on it on the blog circuit. I ussually always try any new web app to see what it is and how it forms and such. Most of the time what I read about it just pure hype and the thing just doesn’t have that appeal to it.
Well 30 Boxes is AMAZING. Everyone should join this thing, prosthesis this is the Flickr (which it also intergrates with) of calendars.

One example on how easy and wonderful it is by adding a date. you just do Kuwait National Day Feb 25 repeat yearly tag Kuwait this will make Feb 25 marked as Kuwait National Day and repeated yearly with the tag of Kuwait.

It is really that simple and so smooth. You can also have Buddies and share your calenders with. This is something that I am going to have my friends do since we have such varied schedules and it is tough to coordinate or even know what they are doing.

If you are looking for a great calendar app then this is it. I think what makes it so specail that it integrates with your life. I have my blog on there, flickr pics and soon my friends.

It is good to relax and unwind at home for a bit and get some alone time.

I just finished watching the movie Syriana and have to say “eh”. It is a nice visual movies, more about beginning was kinda slow in introducing the players, illness middle had some interesting parts, salve and end was a slow fade. My American friend highly recommended it to me and said I should watch it, and the story behind it was also tempting. That whole what happens behind closed doors and hotel rooms over oil and the Middle East.
Yet as I was telling my brother when he was walking in and out of the movie asking what is going on I replied “it is just telling what we live”. Yes they took some artistic liberties in some parts, but overall .

Ok this is amusing just finished watching the end credits and had a link to this site http://www.participate.net/oilchange. Very interesting, I am sure that is the goal of the film makers and producers of the film. This is from the site:

Time for a tangent.

I was at the WTO protest in Seattle and went there with an open mind listening to the protesters, reading their pamphlets and all that stuff. I got tear gassed and ran way from cops shooting at me and have to say those protesters were a bunch of fucking idiots. I swear these people knew nothing of the world economy, or the concept of trade or really how other people lived on the other side of the world. They just believe was is fed to them and think to themselves “I want to save the planet” or what ever latest trend would get them laid.

I recall this one guy telling me how the people in Thailand are suffering, and I asked him “have you been there? Did you ask this person yourself” he of course replied “no” and went to I remember this one guy have this “Stop Nike” sign wearing Nike shoes. I for one have not worn Nike shoes since Rebok pumps first came out, I also dont drink Starbucks coffee, havent done for over 2 years. I dont do this because I dont like their commercial practices, but a personal choice as a consumer not liking what they provide me.

So as I was saying, they dont know what they were protesting against. I remember how it was just before Christmas season and the big shopping spree people do and as we were marching downtown Seattle right by all the shops and stores and rows of Starbucks coffee shops that tomorrow all these people will be back here wearing Nike sneakers and drinking their lattes, buying goods they are protesting against today, and complaining why the prices are so high.

Well simply because they didn’t let trade happen. They didn’t let market forces balance out and make things cheaper for them, because they keep buying stuff they are supposedly against.

Trade, for lack of a better word, is good. trade is right. trade works. Trade clarifies, cuts through and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Trade, in all of it’s forms – trade for life, for money, knowledge – has marked the upward surge of mankind and trade.

So Syriana, decent movie, I’d give it a 6/10 it is a bit slow, and “eh” but overall a decent waste of time.

I got this spam email a week ago and it was actually something pretty cool. It was for We Love Kuwait, click which is a website for children’s books.

I counted 50 of these porters hanging around. They are so pointless to have. I think I saw maybe 10 working the others sitting around doing nothing. I hate how they are demanding.

They will run to your car & even if you are arriving & pushing your cart from the bagge to the car they will shadow you. Then when you reach your car & open the trunk he jumps out & decides to help. Like wtf dont you ask? & where were you when I got the bags?

Saw King Kong tonight and have to say it was amazing. There have been mixed reviews about the movie, cheap on the story, treatment the length and other random stuff, prostate but have to say that it all makes for a really good movie. I can see why people can have issues with it cause they are used to watching movies in the comfort of their own homes. Which makes perfect sense now a days. Either we get the DVD or download it and watch it at our own pace.

What I loved about the movie Kong is that unlike other remakes that just sucked with the director’s “re-imagination” of the movies, Peter Jackson kept true to the original feeling and emotion of the movie. This to me made it more appealing and enjoyable. I really got sucked in to the whole story and visuals. You really felt a connection to the characters and their struggles and this includes Kong.

You really have to see the band live to get the full effect yet this is a great album to enjoy with a lot of the their big hits and can’t be missed.

Just recently someone told me about writing notes on your books. To me this was a big “no no” since I was taught by that books are to be cherished, impotent read and respected. So that the next person down the line can enjoy them and appreciate the book. It took a big mind duck for me to actually write in a book and underline passages and points, but I finally did it.
I rebelled against 20 years of thought programming and it felt good. I enjoyed doing it, it made it fun and more than that I made notes for future reference and ideas that I want to look at later.

So just when I want to write about it and say how cool it is someone already did:
Lifehack Your Books: Dogear, Writing In Books, and Apologizing to Librarians. The only issue I have with this is the dog ears part. I dont know if I can actually do that. I’ve trained myself over the years to memorize where I left off either my remembering page number, or location.

So this morning was thinking of what album I should listen to today. Just wasn’t sure on my whole feel of the day and what I needed. So I get to my phone and see a sms from my friend Carl in Seattle completing the Perfect Day lyrics I sent him I think a week ago when someone mentioned sangria.
Carl and I would do amazing duets of this song in Spain and well everywhere, viagra buy we drove his then fiance (wife) crazy in Spain singing it. So I went to the album collection and busted out Lou Reed – Transformer.

This is a great album, pharmacy a real New York album. Drugs, viagra 100mg pimps, hustlers, spending a day in Central Park, just so much imagery and life in it, makes me remeber New York with a tear in my eye. I recall going to New York to see Tibet House Tribute Concenert in 2003 and one of the highlights was Lou Reed and we are all waiting backstage of the Carnegie Music Hall waiting for all the people to come so we can get pictures and autographs. I remeber when Lou came and just was mesmerized this guy was like a war hero. Face filled with wrinkles and lines, black leather jacket. The pictures dont do him justice for his presence was shock and awe. This was Lou Reed, Mr. New York.

Currently at the Andalous police station waiting. There was a robbery last night at our store. We reported it at 830 wher we opened. I am here to file a report (been here since 12) but have to wait for CSI to go to the place to collect evidence. They were suppose to be there around 930 it is currently 1330.

How long will this last?

Sometimes when I get to work and there is a song playing. I will just stop and sit in my car listening to it. Like my work day won’t begin until this song is over and for those few momments I just relax, neurosurgeon meditate in some sorts before entering work, health thinking of something pure.
